Prestec have recently completed a large commercial basement renovation in London, SW1, a project that began in October 2016, and only took 5 months.
This job was completed for Exel Contracts, a contractor with 30 years’ experience in maintenance and refurbishment. Exel Contracts offer a variety of services from installing & maintaining alarm systems to decorating and cleaning.
This project involved installing over 500m2 of Delta Cavity Drainage Membrane to the basement level walls and pavement vaults. This system is used for waterproofing walls, floors and vaulted ceilings in structures that are subjected to water ingress. Prestec also installed two Delta ground water sump & pump units, including a fully maintainable perimeter channel drainage system. These units are designed to collect ground water and discharge it to the main drain via a manhole.
Aside from the basement works, Prestec also waterproofed external areas of the building around the newly installed pavement lights and power cable pits. To do this, Prestec used Koster 21, a component that is applied in liquid form. Prestec have also completed several concrete repairs to the structure due to steel reinforcement corrosion caused by historic water ingress.
The final stages of this project were internal and consisted of sand & cement rendering, plaster boarding and all plaster finishes.
