This year, Prestec celebrates 30 years in business as a specialist contractor in construction, dilapidations, structural repair and refurbishment. As part of the celebrations, Managing Director, David Hewlett, took part in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 Bike Ride on 2nd August 2015.

David Hewlett established Prestec in 1985 and over the years has seen it go from strength to strength. To celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, David explains how he now wants to give something back. He comments: “After 30 years of working for Prestec, I wanted to do something special and for a good cause close to my heart. I will be riding in The Prudential Ride London in August 2015 to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.”

The charity is particularly appropriate, as in 2001 David lost his brother-in-law, Paul, aged 27 to a heart attack. He explains: “It was very sudden and the impact on his family was catastrophic. If I can raise funds to help The British Heart Foundation with their continued research, then the equal achievement of a 30-year landmark and going good for a cause so close to us will be amazing.”

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey100 celebrates the cycling legacy created by the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. It will start in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and follow a 100-mile route through the capital and into the Surrey countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the 2012 London Olympics, it promises to be a spectacular event.

David completed the ride in 6 hours 9 minutes, his current total stands at £3745.00 which is fantastic achievement and with his initial target being £3000 – he has raised over 124% of his orginal target.

David has already signed up for the race again next year and is currently looking at doing the Tour de Leicestershire in September.
